The following is from several ladies that serve in different parts of the world. They wanted to share with you their discussions in hopes that they would bless and help you wherever it is that you are serving.
Dear ladies, I have a question that I’m rather shy to ask, but I know
that many of you have experience in this situation and I guess I’m just
looking for something that can help me or show me were I need to improve
in order to be helped.
My question is how do you find a balance between family and ministry?
I know that out ministries are different in some aspects and that our
personal lives are different as well. Many of you have babies and toddlers
in the house and some have older children in the house. Some have help
cleaning their homes other clean their own homes. Nonetheless I believe
we all have a pretty crazy schedule!
I find it increasingly more difficult to do things the older C gets. I
started taking piano lessons a few months ago but I have the hardest time
practicing. As soon as I go and sit in front of the piano, C starts
whining and crying and he does not stop until I get up from frustration
after 10 minutes. This is every time! K is to busy with his own work
to look after C during that time. I also started a 2 year Bible
Institute coarse, working towards a diploma. I’m suppose to study 7 hours
a week, but because my week nights are to full, I put most of it of untill
Saturday afternoons. T is with me until noon on Saturdays. Some
days I miss majority of that study time due to ladies meetings, church
fellowship etc. Now there are some evenings that we watch a program
together, that I can probably take to study but I like spending that time
with my husband. Sometimes I think, well your not going to study forever,
after your done, you will have that time again with your husband. I really
need to get stricter with myself on that.
Apart from that I still have T with me 7 hours a day. Praise the
Lord that she helps me with the cleaning in the mornings!!!!! Thanks to
Bro. Gardner I got to incorporate my language time with her into cleaning
time with her in the mornings. What a relief that brought into my
life!!!! Now it’s not a problem anymore if C needs to be fed or I
quickly need to do something important or make lunch etc. I can just leave
and get back to what we were doing. In the afternoons we sit down for more
serious language, translating songs etc.
When I sit down in front of the computer, whether it is to do taxes or to
check mails, C starts whining and complaining or he’s pulling on all
the wires, destroying the fax machine etc, etc. If I can just have a few
minutes a day to concentrate on what I’m doing!
C is not lacking attention, perhaps it’s quite the contrary! I don’t
know. I only have one child and he keeps me soooooo busy! maybe it’s
that combined with everything else. C is not the problem either, he is
a huge blessing to us and I love him to death. He comes first, it’s jsut
putting him first and still getting anything else done. If I’m just being
a baby or lazy, feel free to tell me so. Sometimes when I’m being pushed
over the edge, I try to explain to K how frustrated I am trying to all
these things at the same time but not really getting anywere either. I
geuss I say it with an attitude that makes me sound as though I’m a huge
complainer. I don’t want to complain, I just want to find a better
balance in my schedule.
Well, I actually feel so ridiculous writing this mail because many you
have so much more on your plates. I’m just sincerely asking for advice
because I’ve come to point where my schedule isn’t working so good
anymore.
Thanks Ladies
Love Ya’ll
